Sources have revealed that despite Harry and Meghan stepping down from their roles as working royals four years ago, they are the "only available members of the family with any real experience of public duty." While there have been suggestions of promoting Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie as working royals, they have only carried out a limited number of official engagements over the years. Zara and Mike Tindall, who are quite popular, are occupied with their business ventures and have no prior experience with royal duties.
The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, the Duke of Kent, and Princess Alexandra, who are the late Queen's cousins, also fulfill duties on behalf of the King. However, given their age, which ranges from late seventies to eighties, their workload understandably remains limited. With the three most senior royals unable to actively participate, the remaining working royals have an average age of 75.
As a result, royal watchers are speculating about which younger members could potentially be brought into the fold to assume greater responsibilities. Although Harry and Meghan are not working royals, Harry still serves as a counselor of state, allowing him to work on behalf of the King during periods of illness or unavailability. However, the couple has settled in California, residing in a £15 million Montecito mansion with their two children.
