The Invictus Games will be returning to Canada next year, marking their first appearance in the country since Toronto hosted the event in 2017, which also served as the official debut of Meghan and Harry as a couple. Planning for the 2025 Games, the first winter edition, commenced when Vancouver's successful bid was announced in April 2022. "The Invictus Games Vancouver-Whistler 2025 will provide a global platform to expand the range and prominence of winter adaptive sports," expressed Harry at the time. "With deep respect, I'm also pleased to share that the Games in Canada will be held in partnership with the First Nations, in the spirit of truth and reconciliation with indigenous communities."
Meghan and Harry's most recent public visit to Canada occurred in November, when Harry dropped the ceremonial puck at a hockey game featuring the Vancouver Canucks and the San Jose Sharks, as part of the preparations for the 2025 Games. Later, they were photographed celebrating in the stands.
During a Netflix event held on Wednesday, further details regarding the couple's Archewell Productions studio and its collaboration with Netflix were disclosed. According to Hello! magazine, Bela Bajaria, the Chief Content Officer of Netflix, informed the audience at the Next on Netflix presentation that Meghan and Harry have been actively involved in various projects, including some in collaboration with Brandon Riegg, the streamer's vice president of unscripted and documentary series. Riegg, who joined Netflix in 2016, has overseen the company's successful expansion into reality TV, resulting in popular shows such as Queer Eye, Love Is Blind, and Tidying Up with Marie Kondo.
Bajaria stated, "They have a couple of unscripted things they're working on with Brandon. And they actually have like a bunch of development, they have a movie in development, a scripted series that they're working on. So all very early development, with a movie, a TV show, and a couple of unscripted shows."
