Despite enduring a 10-hour flight for a brief 45-minute visit with his father, Prince Harry reportedly did not have the opportunity to meet his brother, Prince William, or sister-in-law, Princess Kate. In the past, Prince Harry expressed his hopes for a family reconciliation, stating that the door is always open and that there is much to discuss. He emphasized the need for open dialogue, highlighting that staying silent would not lead to any improvements.
However, according to royal expert Duncan Lham, Meghan Markle seems reluctant to put in significant effort to mend relations with the royal family during this dispute. Lham expressed his observations in an interview with Bella magazine, noting that Meghan appears to be more distant and annoyed by the royals. He described her as someone who may not be inclined to make the first move or be receptive to outreach from other members of the royal family.
The couple has publicly shared their grievances with the royal family during their conversation with Oprah Winfrey on their Netflix show and through Prince Harry's memoir. Nevertheless, Lham believes that for any improvement to occur, the driving force needs to be Prince Harry. He suggests that some form of apology behind the scenes, likely involving King Charles himself, is necessary to initiate the healing process. While Prince Harry may experience a hint of guilt, he still perceives himself as the victim in this situation.
As the rift between the Sussexes and the royal family persists, it remains to be seen whether Meghan Markle will eventually be willing to take a more proactive role in repairing the damaged relationships, or if Prince Harry will continue to bear the burden of initiating reconciliation efforts.
