Official Removal: King Charles Erases Prince Harry and Meghan Markle from Royal Family's Website

The official Royal Family website recently made a subtle but significant change to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's status.  Despite previous adjustments to Prince Harry's page, the profiles of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have undergone a quiet downgrade on the official website. Glaring errors persist, falsely stating that they still hold Royal patronages, split their time between the UK and North America, and reside at Frogmore Cottage. This oversight has drawn criticism from Royal commentator Richard Fitz Williams, who argues that these inaccuracies make the royal family appear out of touch.

Williams suggests that the biographies should either be updated to reflect current events or exist in name only. The members of the royal family page have seen updates, featuring new pictures of each senior Royal. Notably, the page's most significant change is the revised order in which members are presented, now reflecting their seniority within the Royal ranks. King Charles and Queen Camilla are at the top, followed by The Prince and Princess of Wales, the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, Princess Anne, Princess Alexandra, the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, and the Duke of Kent.

The remaining working members of The Firm—Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, and Prince Andrew—have been notably demoted and now appear at the bottom of the page  While Prince Harry's HRH title was promptly removed, other inaccuracies remain. The introductory section still states outdated information about the couple's decision to step back as senior members of the royal family. This excerpt fails to reflect the palace's subsequent clarification on the practicalities of the decision.

Since their move to America, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have spent minimal time in the UK. Prince Harry made a few visits in 2022 for specific events, while Meghan has not returned since the late Queen's funeral in September 2022. They no longer serve the monarchy, relinquishing their military appointments and patronages in February 2021.

Buckingham Palace redistributed their roles among working members of the royal family, and while Prince Harry retained a few private patronages and presidencies, Meghan's profile page is misleading, suggesting she still holds positions as patron of the National Theater and the Association of Commonwealth Universities. Additionally, they lost their roles as President and Vice President of the Queen's Commonwealth Trust.

On Prince Harry's biography page, it states that their official residence is Frogmore Cottage, but they were asked to vacate the Windsor property shortly after the publication of Prince Harry's memoir in January 2023. They fully moved out of the home, originally gifted by the late Queen, even before their departure. Since relocating to California in early 2020, the Sussexes rarely used the property.
