Tyler Perry Faces Criticism as Fans Slam Netflix Movie Following Support for Meghan Markle and Prince Harry

Tyler Perry, a close friend of Meghan Markle, has received criticism from film fans in response to his latest Netflix movie. The actor and producer directed "Mea Culpa," a romantic thriller that premiered on the streaming service last week. Perry played a significant role in welcoming Meghan Markle and Prince Harry into his home when the couple relocated to the United States in 2020 after their departure from the Royal Family. He also made appearances in their Netflix documentary series. The couple, along with their son Archie, resided in Perry's Beverly Hills home for a few months before moving to their current residence in Montecito.

Having initially gained fame as an actor, Perry later focused on directing and producing. Shortly after "Mea Culpa" became available on Netflix, he faced criticism from several viewers who found the plot "boring." The film features Kelly Rowland as a criminal defense attorney who agrees to defend a man accused of murdering his girlfriend.

Criticism and backlash against the movie have flooded social media platforms such as Twitter, with users expressing their disappointment. One user wrote, "This movie is boring... #MeaCulpa," while another stated, "#MeaCulpa is the worst movie I've seen in a long time. The acting is so terrible it was cringe-worthy to watch, and the storyline is predictable and boring. What a waste of time."

Despite the negative reception for his film, Perry had shown support for the Sussexes following their highly publicized exit from the royal family. During an interview on NBC's Today in 2022, he spoke about the couple, saying, "Yes, it was a very difficult time for them. What I know about the two of them, that I wish the world knew, is how much they love. These two people love each other. The love they have is really, really moving, and I just wanted to do anything I could to support them."
