Harry had taken legal action following a decision in February 2020 by the Executive Committee for the Protection of Royalty and Public Figures, which stated he would no longer receive the same publicly funded protection upon his visits. The decision stemmed from Harry's transition away from full-time royal duties in December of the previous year.
In response, Harry's legal team argued he had been unfairly singled out and treated less favorably. However, retired high court judge Sir Peter Lane, in a partially redacted 52-page ruling, deemed Harry's interpretation of the decision inappropriate. Sir Peter concluded that the decision-making process was legally sound, dismissing Harry's case.
The ruling could present a challenge for King Charles, given Harry's previous statements about the safety concerns of bringing his family to the UK. Currently undergoing cancer treatment following a recent diagnosis, King Charles had to forego attending King Constantine of Greece's memorial service on Tuesday to receive treatment in London, highlighting the pressing nature of his health concerns
