King Charles Fumes as Prince Harry Rejects Royal Residence, Opts for Hotel Stay During UK Visit

During his recent visit to the UK for Invictus Games commitments, Prince Harry made a surprising choice by opting for a hotel stay instead of accepting the royal residence offered by King Charles. Despite being in the same city, Harry was unable to meet his estranged family due to the hectic schedules of King Charles and Prince William. Earlier reports suggested that the Monarch refused to meet his youngest son, but palace insiders have refuted these claims, stating that the king expressed a desire to meet Harry but couldn't due to the intense media frenzy surrounding the situation.

Recent reports now suggest that King Charles even offered Prince Harry a royal residence, but the Duke turned down the offer. Instead, Harry chose to stay at a nearby hotel. The Sunday Times reported that a more private meeting between the king and Harry could have been arranged if Harry had accepted the palace stay. This would have avoided the intense media scrutiny that accompanies their meetings. However, sources close to Harry emphasized that he understood the king's busy schedule and made efforts to meet his ailing father even before the trip.

Contrary to the speculation, some within the royal family maintain that Prince Harry never requested a meeting with his father or invited him to attend the Invictus Games. A close friend of the king stated that King Charles did indeed want to meet Harry and refuted claims that he snubbed his son in favor of honoring Prince William. The source explained that while the king is understandably cautious about meetings with Harry due to media attention, he did agree to see his son during a vulnerable moment of illness back in February, albeit at very short notice.

In a separate event, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry visited the Lagos Polo Club during the final leg of their Nigeria tour. The visit aimed to support Nigeria Unconquered, a charity organization based in Nigeria collaborating with the Invictus Games Foundation. Meghan, known for introducing vibrant colors to her wardrobe to honor her Nigerian roots, opted for a more neutral-toned elegant look. She wore a cream shade dress by Joanna Ortiz, paired with Burberry sandals and Heidi Merck Santa Barbara sunglasses.

Upon arrival at the polo club, the couple witnessed a pregame Children's Parade, where young participants dressed in Polo attire and carried the Nigerian flag. The Duchess's team achieved a 5 to 3 score against the Duke's lineup during the game. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle then presented medals to the players and concluded the event with a heartfelt address by the Duke, who holds a special place in his heart for the sport.

It is worth noting that Prince Harry has a strong connection to Polo and has participated in several charity Polo events in the past. His love for the sport has also brought him closer to Nacho Figueras, known as the "David Beckham of Polo." The two friends have teamed up for numerous charity matches, and their friendship is reflected in the dynamics between their wives as well. Delina Blaquier, Figueras' wife, and Meghan Markle have referred to each other as "Polo wives" on social media. In April, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced that they were working on a polo-focused Netflix series, offering viewers unprecedented access to the world of professional Polo.
