It's a bittersweet moment for Prince Harry as his brother Prince William opens up about their nephew George's aspirations. During a recent conversation at a Buckingham Palace garden party, William revealed that the 10-year-old has expressed an interest in visiting the RAF Coningsby base in Norfolk - just like his dad used to do as an air ambulance pilot.
Royal biographer Tom Quinn believes this could be a "sad reminder" for Harry, who was himself an Apache helicopter pilot and would have loved the chance to share his own aviation stories with George.
"William's hints that his son might follow in his footsteps will certainly remind Harry of everything he's missing," Quinn told The Mirror. "After all, Harry was a pilot himself and would have relished the opportunity to entertain his nephew with tales of his time in the air. It's a painful reminder that he has no relationship at all with George."
The bond between William and his son was on full display recently as they attended the FA Cup final together, joining Prince Charles in the stands to cheer on their beloved Aston Villa. George's passion for football, shared by his father and grandfather, was a heartwarming sight amid the challenges the royal family has faced - especially after the news of the Princess of Wales's cancer diagnosis earlier this year.
Despite the difficulties, the royals are clearly finding strength in each other and in George's growing interests, from football to aviation. While it must sting for Harry to see the close relationship his brother enjoys with their nephew, one can only hope that in time, he'll be able to forge his own special bond with the young prince.
