It happened when the couple was visiting an RAF base in Cyprus in 2018. While opening a new leisure facility, Prince William warned RAF members to keep food away from the furniture, saying, "Keep the pizza off the couches."
Kate then responded, "You're a nightmare about this," but the Daily Record reports that the mum of three's battle to keep her furniture crumb-free is an ongoing one, as the couple are known to enjoy regular takeaways.
During an interview with BBC Radio 1 in 2017, Princess Kate was asked if the family ate fast food and what their best option was.
"Absolutely, and curry for sure. They're not usually ordered to the Palace; we tend to go and pick them up," she replied, before jokingly saying, "Not ourselves."
While Kate enjoys her spicy food, William admitted he's more partial to a milder dish. He told footballer Peter Crouch on his podcast in 2020 that he's not a vindaloo guy and prefers chicken tikka masala.
Speaking on Radio 1, Prince William also said he enjoys Nando's after his police protection officer introduced him to the restaurant.
Despite having access to some of the world's finest cuisine at their fingertips, fast food is a popular treat within the royal family, with the late Queen also enjoying exotic food.
"The King had a magical relationship with his grandmother, the Queen Mother, and I'm sure it is his dearest wish to give his grandchildren a similarly strong and loving relationship," says an insider.
For all his serious musings about the state of the world, Charles has been quite calm. It's a very old thing that I'm sure he appreciates. He greatly treasures the time he spends with his grandchildren.
