Meghan Markle's Touching Tribute to Daughter Lilibet on Nigeria Trip

As Princess Lilibet prepares to celebrate her 3rd birthday on June 4th, royal watchers have noticed a special fashion moment from Meghan Markle that paid tribute to her youngest child. During Meghan and Prince Harry's recent visit to Nigeria in May, the Duchess wore a striking canary yellow Carolina Herrera gown - the same dress she had worn for a photoshoot announcing her pregnancy with Lilibet three years earlier.

The remote photoshoot, directed by Harriet Harriman, took place at the couple's Montecito home during the COVID-19 pandemic. The resulting black-and-white image showed Meghan and Harry sitting beneath a sprawling tree, with the vibrant color of Meghan's dress not easily identifiable.

Meghan's decision to re-wear the piece on Mother's Day, just weeks before Lilibet's birthday, was seen as a touching homage to her daughter. It's a rare public acknowledgement of the young royal, as Harry and Meghan have prioritized the privacy of their children since stepping back from the monarchy in 2020.

The couple has kept Lilibet and her older brother Archie largely out of the public eye. Though they made an exception for their Netflix docuseries last year, where they shared intimate home videos and photos of their children.

So far, Lilibet has not been officially photographed with her parents at a public event. However, the couple did release an official portrait of their daughter to mark her 1st birthday in 2022, also captured by Harriman.

As Lilibet's 3rd birthday approaches, this subtle fashion nod from Meghan serves as a touching maternal tribute, even as the young royal remains shielded from the glare of the public spotlight.
