According to a new report, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have reached out to the Princess of Wales, who is reportedly facing a health struggle, in a bid to "make amends."
Royal commentator Louise Roberts told Sky News hosts that Meghan "feels bad for Kate" and the couple now wants to "let bygones be bygones." However, Roberts also questioned the potential motives behind this reconciliation attempt, asking, "what's the motive, and what's in it for Kate?"
The commentator speculated that the possible reason the Duchess of Cambridge may entertain the idea of a reconciliation is "for the sake of the children." This would allow the young cousins, including Archie and Lilibet, to get to know each other better, as well as their grandfather, King Charles.
The Sussexes have been largely estranged from the royal family since their dramatic exit in 2020, when they stepped down from their royal duties and moved to the United States. Their strained relationship with senior royals was further exacerbated by the series of claims they made against the monarchy through television interviews, their Netflix docuseries "Harry & Meghan," and the Duke's memoir, "Spare."
Despite the ongoing tensions, it appears that the prospect of Kate's health struggle and the desire to foster better relationships for the children have prompted Harry and Meghan to reach out and attempt to mend the rift within the royal family.
