According to The Telegraph, organizers of Wimbledon are keeping options open for the Princess of Wales to attend the event in July, where she traditionally presents the trophy to the tournament winner as the patron of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club. The final decision on her attendance will be made closer to the event.
Wimbledon holds a special place on the Princess's royal calendar, being a passionate tennis enthusiast who has been seen enthusiastically cheering from the stands over the years.
"Tennis star Roger Federer once shared how enjoyable it was to sit next to Princess Catherine at Wimbledon," recalled one event. Royal commentator Emily Andrews speculates that Catherine, in her capacity as club patron, is considering attending Wimbledon next month.
"She continues her treatment, which will last a few more months, but she's keen to attend the Wimbledon tennis tournament, an event she supports," Andrews wrote in Grazia.
The Championships will culminate on July 13 and 14, with the women's singles final on Saturday and the men's singles final on Sunday.
Previously, a tweet from Kate and William about the tennis tournament drew a response from former champion Roger Federer. "'Anyone for TENNIS,' read a tweet featuring two chairs from the tennis court on the official account of the Prince and Princess of Wales.
"'Count me in,' Federer replied to the royal couple's post. Within minutes, the former tennis player's response was viewed by half a million people.
