According to recent reports close to the Wales family, the Prince of Wales is planning to visit a homelessness center with his children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis. This initiative reflects his deep personal connection to the cause, reminiscent of his visits to homeless shelters as a child alongside his mother, Princess Diana.
Back in June, Prince William launched a five-year program aimed at combating homelessness across the UK. The initiative focuses on forming locally-led coalitions involving individuals, organizations, and businesses to collaborate in preventing and ultimately ending homelessness in their communities.
In addition to his hands-on involvement, Prince William is set to feature in a new ITV documentary aimed at changing public perceptions about homelessness. Reflecting on his commitment to this cause, Prince William shared that his interest was sparked during visits with his mother, Princess Diana, to places like The Passage many years ago. He emphasized how deeply Princess Diana's values and compassion for others have influenced both his approach to royal duties and his parenting style.
Princess Diana, who grew up at Althorp in Northamptonshire, spent many happy years there and is laid to rest on the estate. However, due to the centuries-old rule of male primogeniture, Althorp House will not be inherited by her sons, Prince William and Prince Harry. Instead, the estate will pass to her nephew, Charles Spencer's son, Louis Spencer, Viscount Althorp, upon the death of the current Earl Spencer.
Charles Spencer's daughter, Lady Kitty Spencer, has spoken openly about the estate and her brother's future inheritance, acknowledging the evolving attitudes towards primogeniture. Althorp House, which has been open for public visitation during July and August, boasts a main house with 90 rooms spread over 100,000 square feet. The property includes a portrait gallery, a lake, and nearly 30 subsidiary listed structures, encompassing farming, forestry, and field sports businesses. However, the most poignant attraction for visitors is the ornamental lake with an island where Princess Diana's remains are buried. While her burial site is not accessible, visitors can pay tribute at a memorial located on the estate grounds.
