Camilla in Tears as Kate Middleton Returns to Royal Duties After Being Declared Cancer-Free

Princess Kate has returned to work just a week after releasing a video message announcing the completion of her chemotherapy. The Duchess of Wales held a meeting at Windsor Castle, marking her official return to royal duties following her cancer treatment.

On Tuesday, Kate, the Princess of Wales, hosted a gathering at Windsor Castle, which was officially recorded in the Court Circular—the formal record of engagements carried out by working members of the royal family. The meeting focused on her passion project, early childhood development, which has been close to her heart for many years. This event marked a significant milestone in her recovery and was the first official meeting for Kate since she announced her cancer diagnosis in the spring.

In a video message delivered on September 9th, Kate shared with the public that she had completed chemotherapy. As a mother of three, she expressed her optimism and determination to focus on staying cancer-free while gradually returning to her royal duties. "My focus has now shifted to staying cancer-free and gradually returning to my duties," she said. Prince William noted that Kate still has a long road ahead, emphasizing that her recovery will take time.

Kate shared in her message, “Doing my best to stay cancer-free is now my priority. Even though I have finished chemotherapy, my road to full recovery is long, and I will need to take each day as it comes. However, I am looking forward to returning to work and undertaking a few more public engagements in the coming months when I can."

Kate first announced her cancer diagnosis in the spring after undergoing what royal officials described at the time as planned stomach surgery in January. She completed her chemotherapy six months after the diagnosis. While the type of cancer and specific details of her treatment have not been publicly revealed, Kate has mentioned that she underwent preventative chemotherapy.

In addition to her return to work, Kate has made a few public appearances during her treatment. She attended day 14 of the Wimbledon Tennis Championships on July 14, 2024, at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in London. During the event, she presented the winner’s prize to Spain's Carlos Alcaraz following his victory over Serbia’s Novak Djokovic in the men’s singles final. Kate was accompanied by her daughter, Princess Charlotte, as they watched the match together.

Photos released by Kensington Palace on September 9, 2024, show the Princess of Wales alongside King Charles III, Queen Camilla, Prince George, Prince William, Prince Louis, and Princess Charlotte on the balcony of Buckingham Palace after attending the Trooping the Colour. Since the spring, Kate has been seen publicly only a few times, including at the Trooping the Colour in June and Wimbledon in July.

Kate’s recent return to work, coupled with her courageous battle against cancer, has inspired many. As she continues to focus on her recovery, royal fans eagerly await her future engagements and contributions to her beloved causes.
