Camilla Supports King Charles: A Touching Reunion for a Major Royal Event

Queen Camilla reached out to her husband, King Charles, to ensure he wasn't alone on a significant occasion. The Queen Consort joined the monarch at the Braemar Gathering, the most famous of the Highland Games in Scotland, on Saturday.

Despite a busy schedule of duties last week, the royal family shared glimpses of the event, with Charles appearing in high spirits as he attended in traditional attire. The Braemar Gathering, a particular favorite of the late Queen Elizabeth, was held to mark what would have been her birthday. Charles often enjoyed the sports with his mother, and at one point during Saturday's event, he appeared emotional as he wiped away tears, possibly in memory of her.

The event, which includes traditional Highland Games such as tug of war and caber toss, has been running in its current form since 1832 and has been attended by members of the royal family since 1848. Highlights shared on social media earlier this year noted that the Braemar Gathering would see Camilla take on the role of Patron of the Royal Highland Society, following in the footsteps of the late Queen, who held the patronage for six decades.

Camilla returned to work this week, throwing herself into several royal engagements while the monarch remained in Scotland.
