Kate Middleton Appoints New Chief Scout Amid Ongoing Cancer Treatment

Princess Kate has shared a heartfelt social media message for a cause she deeply cares about as she continues her cancer treatment. The Princess of Wales, 42, took to X and Instagram Stories, which she shares with her husband, Prince William, to extend her congratulations to adventurer and TV presenter Dwayne Fields on his appointment as Scouts UK's new Chief Scout.

In 2020, Princess Kate became a joint president of the organization, working alongside Queen Elizabeth's cousin, Prince Edward, Duke of Kent. Expressing her delight at welcoming Dwayne Fields to his new role, the Princess of Wales wrote: "Scouts are such an incredible organization, teaching skills for life and making a huge difference to young people across the country. Looking forward to working with you."

The message was signed with the letter "C," which stands for Catherine, as Prince William and Princess Kate often use their initials to sign social media posts directly from them.

Princess Kate also reposted a video from the Scouts, featuring Fields introducing himself in his new role and reflecting on the impact scouting has had on him since he joined at the age of seven. The Scouts’ announcement highlighted how the organization provided Fields with skills, self-belief, and a sense of belonging when he became a Cub Scout. Through his determination and the support of Scout volunteer leaders and friends, Fields became the first Black Briton to reach the North Pole, inspiring people from all backgrounds to explore nature and support their communities.
