Meghan Markle might only consider returning to the UK if she could assume some of Kate Middleton’s royal responsibilities, according to royal biographer Angela Levin. Levin claims that the Duke of Sussex is contemplating a return to his homeland after consulting with former aides and friends about his options. A source close to Harry revealed that he is reassessing his current situation, acknowledging that his current path isn’t yielding the desired results. The source noted, "He is clearly thinking, ‘I need to do something different because what I’m doing isn’t working.’”
Levin further suggested that Meghan Markle harbors jealousy towards the Princess of Wales and would only agree to return to the UK if she could secure a large residence and substantial financial resources. Levin stated, "Meghan is not interested in returning unless she could take on some of Kate’s roles. She once expressed surprise at not being paid for each engagement.” Levin criticized Harry for wanting to return to royal life part-time, accusing him of playing the victim. She remarked, "The late Queen was adamant about him being either fully in or fully out. It’s troubling to see him pretend to be a victim while wanting to come back without being fully committed."
Andrew Pierce supported Levin’s view, suggesting that Harry seeks to have the best of both worlds after stepping back in 2020. Levin agreed, stating, "Absolutely, that’s his approach now. He wants to benefit from both worlds and sees an opportunity to do so while Prince William is occupied with numerous responsibilities. The King is also quite busy, and they might try to exploit that." Levin added that Harry needs to be told firmly, "You’ve lost the plot, and we’re not going to let people dictate our actions."
Levin also addressed the Sussexes’ efforts to establish themselves in California, suggesting that their project might be faltering, which could explain Harry’s desire to rebuild bridges in the UK. She said, "Meghan constantly brands herself as a global figure, but she’s not. One reason she’s not interested in the UK is because she struggles to understand why she’s disliked. She’s just lost another head of PR, and unlike the dedicated monarchy staff who stay for decades, Meghan and Harry seem unable to maintain stable relationships."
