From Rock Bottom to Redemption: How Lindsay Lohan Lost Herself to Fame and Found Her Way Back

She was one of the most internationally renowned child prodigies, but Lindsay Lohan (37) decided to throw her future away because of drugs and alcohol. 25 years ago, the actress was successful with the comedy You to London and I to California (2008), where she shared the lead role with Dennis Quaid and Natasha Richardson, who died in a skiing accident in 2009, leaving Liam Neeson (71) a widower. When she filmed the film she was 12 years old.

After working with Jamie Lee Curtis, Mark Harmon, Chris Pine and Meryl Streep, from 2007 she began to have serious problems when she was arrested a couple of times for driving under the influence of alcohol, as well as being in possession of small amounts of cocaine. After spending a few hours in prison, she was released on parole for four years to cure her drinking problem, but she skipped a class to go to the Cannes Film Festival, for which she was sentenced to pay a fine of 100,000 dollars. She was also given a bracelet that monitored her alcohol level, which she obviously broke at a party, so she was sentenced to three months in prison, of which she only served two weeks.

At work, things were not going too well either. The director of Georgia Rules (2007) sent her a letter in which he promised to take legal action for arriving late to filming or simply for not showing up. In one of those lines, the director admitted that "we are aware that your nightlife is the real reason for your supposed exhaustion." During her participation in several episodes of the series Glee in 2010, they complained that she also arrived many hours late, was in a bad mood and did not know the script. In her participation in Saturday Night Life in 2012, she had to be given cards because she did not know her part by heart; in Dark Temptations (2013) she also skipped several days of filming and during a London theatre performance she claimed to feel sick when on Instagram she was having a great time at a party.

She has also been a friend of others. Between 2011 and 2017 she was accused of several thefts. She borrowed some jewelry for a photo shoot after printing her credit card as a guarantee, but it was cancelled and the pieces were never returned; she stole a $35,000 Rolex from a friend, her ex-boyfriend Igor Tarabasov accused her of stealing $30,000 worth of goods from him and she was even accused of stealing $100,000 worth of jewelry, but that case was dismissed.
