Catherine is contemplating James Middleton's six-word review of schools for Prince George. The Prince and Princess of Wales have already visited several potential institutions for their son, including the prestigious Marlborough College, where James, 37, and his sister, the 42-year-old Princess of Wales, received their education.
James Middleton recently shared his thoughts on Marlborough, describing it as a school that prioritizes top grades above all else. According to GB News, he noted, “It's all about the best grades,” a sentiment he found challenging during his time as a student.
He added, “Maybe my critique is that it places too much emphasis on success and excellence. Being at the top—such as the top teams, the best grades, and securing the top spots in the class—is everything.” James explained that only the top teams at Marlborough, out of eight teams, received recognition. “I was never in the first teams,” he admitted. “My sisters were, and they performed admirably. Their method worked wonderfully for them; however, I struggled to stay afloat.”
Reflecting on his experiences, he mentioned, “It was unfortunate that some of the difficulties I faced weren’t addressed at the time. I believe that support might have helped me manage my expectations and feelings of self-worth, possibly preventing me from heading down a challenging path. I would have felt more accepted and less like a failure.” Despite his struggles, James emphasized that he felt fortunate to have attended such a fantastic school.
This conversation comes after reports indicated that in 2023, Princess Kate and Prince William brought their 11-year-old son, George, to visit Marlborough to assess whether he would enjoy the school. They also took him to tour Eton College, his father's alma mater, located near Windsor Castle. Currently, George is enrolled at Lambrook School alongside his six-year-old brother, Prince Louis, and nine-year-old sister, Princess Charlotte. The family has yet to decide where George will attend school after finishing at Lambrook.
