In a new video published this Monday, September 9 on Instagram, the Princess of Wales reveals herself as never before surrounded by her loved ones. Here is the full transcript of her message.
In a long video published on the official Instagram account of the Prince and Princess of Wales, Kate Middleton shared the long-awaited news of the end of her chemotherapy. In early March 2024, she had announced, in another video, that she had cancer and would be giving up her commitments for the duration of her treatment. In the images published this Monday on social networks, she speaks at length about the ordeal of the last nine months, the love of William and her children, and the light at the end of the tunnel. Here is her full message.
"As summer draws to a close, I can't tell you how relieved I am to have finally finished my chemotherapy treatment. The last nine months have been incredibly challenging for our family. Life as you know it can change in an instant and we have had to find a way to navigate the stormy waters and uncharted waters.
Cancer is a complex, frightening and unpredictable experience for everyone, especially those closest to you. It also humbly challenges you to face your own vulnerability in ways you never expected, and with that, gives you a new perspective on everything around you.
Above all, this time has reminded William and me to reflect and be grateful for the simple but important things in life that so many of us take for granted. The simple act of loving and being loved.
Doing everything in my power to be cancer free is now my priority. Although chemotherapy is over, the road to healing and full recovery is long and I must continue to take each day as it comes.
I am however looking forward to returning to work and undertaking a few more public engagements in the coming months when I am able.
Despite all that has happened before, I am approaching this new phase of recovery with a renewed sense of hope and appreciation for life.
William and I are so grateful for the support we have received, we have drawn great strength from everyone who is helping us at this time. The kindness, empathy and compassion of everyone has been truly humbling.
To all those who are continuing their own cancer journey, I stand with you, side by side, hand in hand. From darkness can come light, so let that light shine.”
