Meghan Markle Slammed for Cheap Knockoff: Johanna Ortiz Brand Outraged Over Red Dress

Meghan Markle has once again managed to stir up a frenzy, this time at a children's garden gala in Los Angeles. And no, it wasn’t due to a heartfelt speech or charitable donations. Instead, the attention was focused on an eye-catching red dress with a plunging neckline.

Let’s set the scene: a gala to benefit a children’s hospital, where one might expect elegance mixed with a touch of modesty. However, Meghan arrived in a bright red gown that seemed more suited for a nightclub than a charitable children's event. And did she stick around to enjoy the festivities? Not quite. Rumor has it she slipped out the back door before the event even got underway.

Predictably, the internet lit up faster than paparazzi flashbulbs as critics eagerly took to their keyboards. Meghan had just handed them a feast. "Duchess to D-list!" one journalist declared, drawing laughter from gossip circles. As one critic scathingly observed, "It wasn’t the time or place for flesh!" Indeed, how dare one seek attention at a gala for sick kids?

One vocal social media critic didn’t hold back, claiming, "She looks a bloody mess, and yes, it’s an inappropriate dress for a kids' charity." The horror of wearing what many saw as a terribly made, ill-fitting, and ugly dress was apparently too much for some to handle.

But Meghan, as always, has never been one to care much about public opinion. After all, as a former TV actress, she's had her fair share of fashion missteps in the past. This time, however, critics accused her of wearing what appeared to be a knockoff of a Johanna Ortiz design. The dress was reportedly a recycled Carolina Herrera piece that, coincidentally or not, bore a striking resemblance to Ortiz’s creation. The Ortiz dress, however, was described as everything Meghan’s wasn’t: flattering, sophisticated, and appropriate for the occasion. Meghan’s version, with its odd strappy details? Not so much.

People were left wondering if she had whispered to a tailor, "Make it an Ortiz, but make it cheaper."

The critics didn’t stop there. Comment after comment piled up, with many pointing out Meghan’s apparent lack of taste and her supposed desire to be fashion-forward. But is she really forward, or just painfully misguided? She could take a lesson from the timeless principle of "less is more," because if Meghan is lacking anything, it’s certainly a good stylist.

Remember the stories about her working with Hollywood stylist Jessica Mulroney? Oddly enough, Mulroney’s Instagram shows little evidence of Meghan’s supposed chic transformation.

And let’s not forget Meghan’s alleged fondness for recycling dresses. Some praise her for being thrifty, but others question her creativity. Three dresses in different patterns within a year? Even a so-called fashionista knows to space those out. It’s as if Meghan’s caught in a loop, convinced that if she just mixes up the patterns, no one will notice.

For a former member of the royal family, you might expect she’d have absorbed a thing or two about style and grace. Yet here we are, watching her stumble through outfit after outfit, desperately trying to make a mark. She seems to think she has it all figured out, but anyone with even a passing interest in fashion knows otherwise.

The real tragedy is that Meghan likely has better options tucked away in her closet—pieces that would actually suit her and wouldn’t leave onlookers gasping for all the wrong reasons.
