Princess Beatrice is expecting her second child, expanding her family with husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi. Their three-year-old daughter, Sienna, may not hold the title of Princess like her mother, but she and her future sibling, expected in Spring 2025, have a fascinating connection to nobility through their father’s Italian heritage.
Edo, a prominent property developer, is also an Italian count. While much of the attention from royal fans is on the British Royal Family, Sienna and her soon-to-arrive sibling are entitled to special Italian titles due to their father’s lineage. Count Alessandro Mapelli Mozzi, Edo’s father, confirmed this noble status before the couple's private wedding in 2020. He told the Daily Mail that Edo is the only male heir to carry on the family legacy as Count, meaning his wife automatically becomes a Countess, and their children will hold the titles of Count or Nobile Donna.
This means Princess Beatrice herself holds the title of Countess, adding an intriguing European dimension to her royal identity. In 1985, the Mapelli Mozzi family celebrated a thousand years of their history, boasting detailed archives that span across that time. Count Alessandro shared this with the Daily Mail, highlighting how rare it is for a family in Italy to maintain such comprehensive records.
Edo is also set to inherit the family’s luxurious estate, Villa Mapelli Mozzi, located in Italy.
On October 1st, Buckingham Palace announced the couple’s joyful news, stating: “Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrice and Mr. Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi are thrilled to announce they are expecting their second child in early spring, a sibling for Wolfie, aged 8, and Sienna, aged 3.”
In addition to Sienna, who was born in 2021, the couple co-parents Edo’s son, Christopher “Wolfie” Mapelli Mozzi, from his previous relationship with Dara Huang. The palace also noted that His Majesty the King has been informed, and both families are delighted to celebrate the upcoming addition.
Beatrice’s sister, Princess Eugenie, and their mother, Sarah Ferguson, The Duchess of York, shared heartfelt family photos to mark the announcement. The Duchess expressed her joy, saying, “Watching you grow as a mother has been one of the greatest privileges of my life.”
