A professional lip reader has claimed to unveil a private remark Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, made to her husband, Prince Harry, during a basketball game they attended together in Los Angeles.
Since their move across the Atlantic, Meghan and Prince Harry have occasionally been seen at high-profile events, from concerts to celebrity-favorite restaurants. However, they mostly keep a low profile, preferring to engage with the public only on their own terms—one of the key reasons they left the UK four years ago.
Whenever the Duke and Duchess of Sussex do attend public events, royal fans are thrilled for the chance to catch a glimpse of them. These appearances often generate significant attention. One such moment was their date night at the LA Lakers game, held at the Crypto.com Arena in downtown LA, where the couple was filmed on the big screen. A professional lip reader even analyzed their conversation during the event.
The couple was attending the Lakers' playoff game against the Memphis Grizzlies in April 2023. This outing took place shortly after it was confirmed that Meghan would not be traveling to the UK for King Charles' coronation. Meghan was the picture of elegance, wearing a pink linen suit jacket with matching shorts, paired with a simple white top.
At one point during the game, the pair appeared on the jumbotron, with fans encouraging them to share a kiss. In another clip, they were seen having a conversation, which lip-reading expert Jeremy Freeman believes he decoded. According to Freeman, Meghan appeared to turn to Harry and say, "It's brilliant," to which Harry nodded in agreement, responding with a simple "Yeah."
Meghan then reportedly followed up with: "Right, it's because it's your favorite there," just before the camera switched back to the game. The couple wasn't the only star power in the arena that night—Kim Kardashian, Adam Sandler, and Kris Jenner were also in attendance, along with 20,000 other spectators.
This Lakers game wasn't the only public date night for Meghan and Harry since their move to California. The couple was also spotted at Beyoncé's Renaissance tour in Los Angeles last September at SoFi Stadium. They enjoyed the evening of music and dancing alongside Meghan's mother, Doria Ragland, and her close friend, actress Abigail Spencer.
