Prince William Reveals Unexpected Guest Shares His and Kate Middleton's Bed. Prince William recently shared some heartwarming details about a special family member who shares his and Kate Middleton's bedroom. The Prince and Princess of Wales, proud parents of three children, have an unexpected guest who has claimed a spot in their bed.
During a visit to Duchy College in Cornwall on Thursday, October 17, Prince William revealed that their beloved cocker spaniel, Orla, often sleeps with him and Kate at night. This charming insight came to light while William was meeting a fan’s dog.
Louise Harland, who was there with her dog, Jacks, recounted the moment to Hits Radio Cornwall, stating, "[William] said that his little dog sleeps on the bed with them at night, with him and Kate."
Harland also noted William's enthusiasm for her pet, saying, "[He was] absolutely in love with my little dog. He asked what breed he was and he's never met one of those breeds; he's a Cockerjack, so he's a little bit of a unique combination." William even commented on how "soft" Jacks' ears were and showered him with affection.
Orla, the cocker spaniel, was gifted to the royal couple by Kate's younger brother, James Middleton, who announced in May 2020 that his dog, Luna, had welcomed "six healthy little pups." Orla made her public debut in 2022 as part of a royal birthday portrait for Princess Charlotte, who is now 9 years old. The name Orla means "golden princess" in Celtic, adding to her royal significance.
Orla joined the Wales family shortly before the passing of their previous dog, Lupo, another cocker spaniel, who died in November 2020. William and Kate shared a heartfelt tribute on social media, writing, "He has been at the heart of our family for the past nine years, and we will miss him so much."
