Big Brother Star Narinder Kaur Slammed for "Nasty" Tweet About Kate Middleton
TV personality and former *Big Brother* contestant Narinder Kaur has faced fierce backlash after posting a controversial tweet about Kate Middleton’s appearance.
The 51-year-old star shared her thoughts on the Princess of Wales' appearance following her attendance at a Remembrance Sunday memorial service in London. Despite battling cancer this year and undergoing treatment, Kate has slowly resumed public engagements, making a poignant appearance in a military-style coat alongside Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh.
However, Kaur’s tweet, which questioned why Kate appeared "aged" and speculated about her smoking habits, triggered a storm of criticism. She wrote: “Genuine question – why has Kate aged so much? Isn’t she only 42? Is she a smoker? It’s the only explanation.”
The comment quickly went viral, with many calling it "nasty" and "disgusting," especially considering Kate's recent health struggles.
In the face of mounting backlash, Kaur issued an apology, stating, “Ok. Seems people took this the wrong way. It was a genuine ask. My brother had chemo. He didn’t age. He died. Apologies if it was insensitive or just plain wrong. Hands up. I’m sorry,” before claiming she deleted the tweet.
However, the criticism didn't stop there. Followers expressed their disappointment, with one writing: "You hit a new low Narinder – take yourself off here for a while and think about things before tweeting." Another user added: "We didn’t take it the wrong way. You were nasty. And you should apologise."
Kaur later shared a video on X (formerly Twitter) addressing the abuse she received in response to her tweet, including “sexual racist and violent abuse,” and a disturbing comment wishing she would “get cancer.” In the video, she clarified, “I put out a stupid tweet. That wasn’t my intention; my intention was not to be malicious or nasty or anything."
She continued, “I’m not like that, anybody who knows me. It was stupid to ask about the aging. I’ve admitted that, I’ve put my hands up and apologised if it caused offence.”
Kaur also accused Kate of having "a lot of privilege" and discussed the racist abuse she faced after commenting on Kate’s appearance during her cancer treatment. Expressing her frustration, she said, “I put out a tweet about AGEING. AGEING! And all you disgusting racists came at me like I’d killed kids. You utter sick f**ks. AGEING? You don’t care about Kate. You don’t give one s**t. You just wanted to hang me."
Despite her apology, the incident has sparked a broader conversation about the online abuse public figures face, as well as the responsibility that comes with commenting on others' appearances, especially when dealing with sensitive health issues.
