In a recent conversation with 'The Guardian', the British star has opened up about his s-xuality and the use of women's clothing on various occasions.
Singer Harry Styles (25 years old) is always in the spotlight. Since One Direction broke up, the young man has had to prove his worth on his own and make a place for himself in the music world, something he has more than achieved. And being world famous comes hand in hand with being constantly analyzed and persecuted. And of course, with having to answer or ignore personal questions of all kinds. Normally, Harry stands out for going off on a tangent when it comes to intimat3 questions, but on this occasion he has surprised us all by answering them.
In a recent interview with The Guardian, the British star has opened up about his s-xuality and the use of women's clothing on various occasions, such as at this year's Met Gala, where he appeared in a transparent black blouse and his hands full of rings and nail polish. "What women wear, what men wear... for me it's not about that. If I see a shirt that I like and they say 'it's for women' I'm like, 'Okay, this doesn't mean I want to wear it any less now. I think the moment you feel comfortable in your own skin is when everything becomes easier," he begins by saying.
For Styles, fashion is a form of expression and he doesn't want to put labels on what he can and can't wear. "I think people are asking 'Why not?' a lot more often now and that's something that excites me. It's not just the fashion world that's blurring the lines, it's happening in so many other things. I think it can be related to music as well and how genres are blurring," he continues by saying.
But, that disappearance of the established barriers in his life doesn't only apply to the world of fashion and music, but also to his s-xuality. Although he admits that he is baffled by seeing so much curiosity about his s-xuality. "Yes, I think I'm serious about that [not knowing where he is with his s3xuality]. It's not like I have an answer [to his s-xuality] and I'm protecting it and keeping it to myself. It's not like I'm not saying it because I don't want to say it. It's also not like, 'Oh, this is just mine.' It's like, 'Who cares?'" he continues, making it clear that he is not interested in defining himself and entering into one of those walls that delimit whether one is bis3xual, heteros3xual or homos3xual.
Harry also explained that his new album is not looking to give away any hints about his s3xuality: "Am I sprinkling in nuggets of s3xual ambiguity to try and be more interesting? No. In terms of how I want to dress and what I'm going to do with my album, I make decisions based on the people I want to collaborate and work with. I want things to go a certain way. I don't have to appear gay, straight or bisxual. I just do it because I like it. Plus, I don't know, I think s3xuality is a fun thing. Honestly? I can't say I've ever thought about it any other way," the singer concludes.
