Careful planning by the Princess of Wales is the reason Prince George and Princess Charlotte have attended prominent royal events without their younger brother, Prince Louis, in recent months.
This month, the elder royal siblings, George (10) and Charlotte (9), accompanied their parents to significant sporting events. Prince George joined his father, Prince William, at the Euro 2024 final, while Princess Charlotte attended the men’s Wimbledon final with her mother, Princess Kate. Meanwhile, Prince Louis was kept at home during these outings, raising questions among royal fans.
An expert suggests that the absence of Louis is part of the Prince and Princess of Wales' deliberate strategy for gradually introducing their children to public life. According to an ITV News royal reporter on True Royalty TV’s The Royal, "The Prince and Princess of Wales have been very careful about how they’ve done it and where they’ve taken them. They’ve considered each event individually and tailored their approach to what’s best for each child at the time. Louis will have his moment in the spotlight, but they’re introducing him more gradually."
While Prince Louis has made fewer public appearances than his siblings, he often captures the spotlight when he does. During Trooping the Colour 2024, Louis stole the show with his playful antics. He danced to the Scots Guards' "Quick March" and was seen yawning and tugging on a window blind cord, much to the delight of onlookers.
At the King’s official birthday parade, Louis appeared animated and excited, even taking a small tumble on the steps of Buckingham Palace while eagerly awaiting the glass State Coach. Once inside the carriage, he waved enthusiastically to the crowds and amused his family by making faces. His mother, Princess Kate, and his siblings couldn’t help but laugh at his lively personality.
Trooping the Colour marked Princess Kate’s first public royal engagement this year after revealing her cancer diagnosis. Despite her health challenges, Kate stepped out gracefully, supported by her family.
Princess Charlotte accompanied her mother to Wimbledon’s men’s final, a rare mother-daughter outing that delighted royal fans. They were joined by Kate’s sister, Pippa Middleton, and received a standing ovation upon arriving in the Royal Box. Charlotte appeared proud of her mother, who has faced significant health struggles over the past several months.
Matt Wilkinson, royal editor of The Sun, remarked, “You can see how Charlotte looks up to her mother. She understands what Catherine has been going through over the last six or seven months. Spending this special day together must have felt like a reward for both of them.”
Ahead of her first public appearance of the year, Princess Kate shared an update on her health, stating, "I’m making good progress, but there are good days and bad days with chemotherapy, as anyone who has been through it knows."
Despite her challenges, Kate continues to balance her royal duties with her role as a mother, ensuring her children are introduced to public life at a pace that suits them individually. With careful planning and heartfelt dedication, the Princess of Wales is shaping the future of the royal family while navigating her personal health journey.
