Prince William and Princess Catherine Revisit the Roots of Their Love

In a touching and nostalgic moment, Prince William and Princess Catherine returned to a place that holds significant meaning in their love story. The couple attended a ceremony at Chelsea Old Church, located on the same road where Catherine once lived in her family’s former home, west of London.

The evening called for formal attire, and the royal couple certainly rose to the occasion. Prince William donned a classic tuxedo, while Princess Catherine looked radiant in a Diane von Furstenberg Zarita black lace gown. The Duchess originally wore this elegant floor-length dress during a Royal Variety Performance, proving that even royalty knows how to make a statement with a wardrobe repeat.

Catherine accessorized her timeless gown with a deep claret red cashmere scarf, adding a festive touch. At five months pregnant with their second child, she still managed to exude grace and style. She completed her ensemble with a vintage black beaded clutch, Kiki McDonough blue topaz circle earrings, and black suede pumps that she first debuted at a film premiere.

As alumni of St. Andrews University, where their romance began, the royal couple revisited the Scottish town in 2021. Staying overnight, they enjoyed a mix of royal duties and personal moments. During their visit, they dined at Forgan’s, a contemporary restaurant known for its Scottish twist, and requested a private seating area to enjoy their meal discreetly.

According to the restaurant’s manager, Mark, the couple was gracious and low-key during their visit. While the menu featured dishes like honey and whiskey-glazed short ribs and herb-crusted salmon, the manager declined to reveal what they ordered. However, their quiet demeanor made a lasting impression on the staff and diners alike.

During their university days, William and Catherine were regulars at local eateries, including Jahangir, an Indian restaurant, and Anstruther Fish Bar. On a nostalgic whim, they revisited the fish bar to order a traditional haddock supper, which they enjoyed on a bench by the pier. They even returned later for ice cream, sharing a simple and sweet moment reminiscent of their student days.

While Catherine is known to enjoy spicy meals, William has admitted he prefers milder flavors. In a 2020 podcast with footballer Peter Crouch, he revealed he’s “not a vindaloo man” and prefers chicken masala.

The couple’s fondness for takeaways has come up in public conversations before. During a visit to an RAF base in 2018, Catherine humorously mentioned William’s tendency to spill pizza on the sofa, much to his playful embarrassment.

Despite their status as senior royals, William and Catherine’s ability to find joy in simple pleasures, like revisiting their favorite student haunts, showcases their relatability. Whether it’s fine dining or fish and chips by the pier, the Prince and Princess of Wales continue to charm with their balance of royal duty and personal connection.

Their journey together—from university sweethearts to a devoted royal couple—remains a heartwarming reminder of enduring love in the public eye.
