The British actress refuses to star in this type of content under a "male gaze." In addition, she adds a "no nud1ty" clause to her contracts
The successful English actress Keira Knightley, 35, star of the "Pirates of the Caribbean" saga and mother of two daughters, announced that she will not film s3x scenes again in films directed by men, according to the British press.
Knightley said she feels uncomfortable filming intimat3 scenes and much more directed by a man, in a conversation with director Lulu Wang and screenwriter and producer Diane Solway on the Chanel Connects podcast (via The Guardian).
"I don't have an absolute prohibition, but I don't want to do it with men. I don't want to do those horrible s3x scenes where you're covered in fat and everyone grunts. I'm not interested in doing that," explained the actress who filmed playful scenes in the films "Colette" and "A Dangerous Method."
"I feel very uncomfortable trying to portray the male gaze. There are times when I'm like, 'Yeah, I totally see this s3x scene in this movie and you basically need someone who's hot. So you can use someone else, because I'm too vain, this body has had two kids and I'd just rather not be naked in front of a bunch of men,'" she added.
This isn't the first time the actress has spoken out about the difficulties of being an actress in a male-dominated industry. In 2018, in an essay addressed to her male colleagues, she said, "They tell me what it is to be a woman. To be kind, to be understanding, to be pretty but not too pretty, to be thin but not too thin, to be s3xy but not too s3xy, to be successful but not too successful."
"But I don't want to flirt with them or coddle them. I don't want to flirt with you because I don't want to sleep with you, and I don't want to coddle you because I'm not your mother. "I just want to work, guys, okay? To talk and be heard, to be talked to and listen. Male ego, stop getting in the way," she added.
