The Duke and Duchess of Sussex Deliver a Powerful Message on Child Safety
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry made a surprise joint appearance, sharing an important message on protecting children from online violence.
On November 7, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex spoke via video at the inaugural Global Ministerial Conference on Violence Against Children in Colombia, marking the occasion with poppy pins in honor of the upcoming Remembrance Day in the U.K.
"We are at a crossroads," Prince Harry began. "The need to reassess and redefine how we protect children has become even more urgent. While the necessity for this has always been clear, it’s now time to turn awareness into real action."
Meghan followed up, emphasizing the dual-edged nature of technology. "Today’s world is defined by greater connectivity and advanced technology, which, while offering many benefits, also demands we better understand how digital violence against children is evolving," she said.
She continued, "At the Archewell Foundation, we work closely with young people, families, and experts around the globe, learning how every part of a child’s life — from their livelihood to their mental and physical well-being — is now influenced by an online world that can both strengthen and distort our connections."
Harry added, "We know supporting parents is key in tackling digital violence. That’s why, earlier this year, we launched The Parents Network — a vital support system for families navigating the challenges of online harm."
