Prince William and Prince Harry United by a Shared ‘Second Home’
Despite the ongoing royal rift between Prince William and Prince Harry, the two brothers share a strong connection through a mutual love for Africa, which they both consider a "second home."
Prince William, who recently completed a four-day solo tour of South Africa for the fourth Earthshot Prize, spoke fondly of the African continent and his personal attachment to the region. During one of his engagements in Cape Town, the Prince of Wales opened up about his deep connection with Africa, saying, “Africa’s been a big part of my life since I’ve been a young boy, since I first came to Africa.”
He went on to add, “Every time I come here I can be myself and get away from all the stuff that happens in my normal life. And so, it’s a really special place, a home from home for me.”
Interestingly, Prince Harry has expressed similar sentiments about Africa, further emphasizing the brothers' shared bond to the continent. Just weeks before William’s visit, Harry traveled to Southern Africa to support his charitable endeavors, particularly Sentebale. The Duke of Sussex visited Lesotho and Johannesburg, South Africa, as part of his trip.
In September, ahead of his tour, Prince Harry joined Queen Masenate Mohato Seeiso of Lesotho at the United Nations. During his appearance, Harry expressed his love for the region, saying, “The beautiful mountain kingdom feels like a home away from home.” He also reflected on the strength and resilience of the African people, especially children, which deeply moved him and inspired the creation of his charity.
Although the brothers’ personal relationship remains strained, reports suggest that there may be signs of thawing in their rift. However, no official confirmation has been made regarding any reconciliation between them at this time.
