Prince William and Prince Harry's estrangement shows no signs of easing as tensions between them remain high.
William's recent attempts to extend an "olive branch" to his estranged brother have been met with skepticism from royal commentators. Since Harry’s departure from the Royal Family in 2020, their relationship has taken a turn for the worse, fueled by a series of public criticisms aimed at the monarchy.
The divide between the brothers was starkly evident during a family gathering at the funeral of their late uncle, Lord Fellowes, earlier this summer, where they reportedly didn’t exchange a single word.
Despite William's efforts to mend their fractured relationship, experts suggest the rift remains as wide as ever.
A notable moment occurred during a recent ITV documentary focused on homelessness, where Prince William mentioned Harry for the first time in years, stirring speculation about a possible reconciliation. Many royal watchers interpreted this mention as a potential "olive branch."
However, royal author Phil Dampier quickly dismissed these claims, stating that William's reference to his brother was simply an acknowledgment of their shared childhood experiences, especially those tied to their mother, Princess Diana, and her charitable work.
Dampier remarked, "It would have been a snub if he hadn't mentioned Harry. I don’t see it as any sort of major breakthrough, I’m afraid, in their relationship, which is sadly as far apart as ever." He added that Diana would be heartbroken to see her sons not working together on initiatives that meant so much to her.
