You’re Not the Reason’: Rick Hoffman Addresses Meghan Markle’s Influence on 'Suits' Comeback

Rick Hoffman, the actor best known for his role as the lovable yet often morally questionable Louis Litt on *Suits*, recently shared some candid thoughts on the show's surprising resurgence in popularity—particularly on the influence Meghan Markle's royal marriage may have had on it.

For those who have missed the *Suits* revival on Netflix, the legal drama experienced a brief yet significant resurgence after being added to the streaming platform. It quickly became a binge-watching sensation once again. Of course, Meghan Markle, who played the ambitious paralegal Rachel Zane before trading in her acting career for royal duties, is a key part of this equation.

Given that *Suits* went from a niche legal show to a Netflix Top 10 hit, you'd think Rick Hoffman, who worked alongside Meghan for nearly a decade, would have a more positive take on her impact. But when asked if Meghan's marriage to Prince Harry played a role in the show's renewed popularity, Rick didn’t exactly jump on the "praise Meghan" bandwagon.

During an interview on *KFC Radio*, when the hosts brought up Meghan's royal romance as the reason behind *Suits*'s newfound fame, Rick didn't seem all that impressed. Instead of praising Meghan’s global influence, he pivoted to talk about his own role. "If I hadn't shown up that day, I wouldn't have been cast in *Suits*," he said, quickly turning the attention back to himself.

Let's rewind a bit. Meghan Markle and Prince Harry started dating in 2016, and by 2017, Meghan had already decided to leave *Suits* after seven successful seasons. She left to become part of one of the world's most famous couples. Meanwhile, *Suits* continued for two more seasons before concluding in 2019. But in 2023, thanks to Netflix, the show was rediscovered, and it shot back to the top of the streaming charts for a full month.

However, not everyone was thrilled about *Suits*'s comeback. At the Golden Globes in January, the *Suits* cast reunited, but one notable absence was Meghan Markle. When asked about her absence, Gina Torres, who played the tough Jessica Pearson, didn’t mince words: “We don’t have a number. We just don’t,” she said. It seems Meghan was a little too royal to be bothered with a group chat.

As for the other *Suits* stars, like Gabriel Macht (Harvey Specter) and Patrick J. Adams (Mike Ross), the royal wedding may have been the last time they communicated with Meghan. Gabriel Macht mentioned that he hadn’t had any direct communication with Meghan aside from her support for the show’s resurgence. Patrick J. Adams, on the other hand, gave a terse "zero" when asked if he’d been in touch with her.

So, while the *Suits* cast seems to be thriving post-Netflix without Meghan, it’s clear that the royal family and the pressures of her new life may have distanced Meghan from her old colleagues.
