After a series of PR mishaps, Meghan Markle is reportedly trying hard to shift the narrative around her, aiming to counteract the image of being difficult, unkind, and challenging. But is it working? Not quite.
Recently, Meghan made an appearance to celebrate the launch of a high-end hippie clothing line she invested in. This marks just her third investment outside of her American Riviera Orchard in Montecito. If you missed our video on her investments, I'll link it for you here. At the launch party, however, Meghan was seen invading another woman’s personal space in an uncomfortable way, which seemed a little too intense and over the top. Plus, as usual, her outfit didn’t flatter her body type, which has raised some eyebrows.
Right after that outing, despite her attempts to maintain a low profile, more bad news hit the headlines. Reports surfaced about the fallout between the Sussexes and the Beckhams. David and Victoria Beckham have been close friends with the royals for years, and their relationship with Harry and Meghan had grown over time. However, things took a turn when Meghan allegedly banned Harry from taking pictures with David during an Invictus event. The reason behind this? Meghan was reportedly upset that Victoria didn’t offer her free clothing. She later made up a story for Harry, claiming that the Beckhams were leaking negative stories about the Sussexes to the press.
At some point, Harry and Meghan tried to repair their relationship with the Beckhams by releasing a statement suggesting that they were on speaking terms again. However, the Beckhams' camp firmly denied these claims, stating that they had no plans to rekindle their relationship with the Sussexes anytime soon. It seems this tactic of pushing press rumors to fix things just isn’t working for them.
On top of this, the Beckhams have had great success with their Netflix projects. Victoria’s new documentary series, "House of VB," will showcase her juggling her fashion brand, beauty business, and family life in the global spotlight. This has upset Meghan, who had similar ambitions with her show for Netflix, but it’s clear that Victoria will likely succeed in this space far better than Meghan ever will.
Meghan is reportedly furious over Victoria’s success, especially with the upcoming launch of Victoria’s cooking series, which seems to be receiving positive early buzz, while Meghan's own projects have struggled. In contrast, the Sussexes have been on the decline for some time, with their public image suffering.
One key difference between Victoria and Meghan is that the Beckhams are self-made, having built their brands independently, while Meghan’s rise came through marriage into the royal family. This gives them a better sense of discretion and appreciation for maintaining positive public relations. Meghan, on the other hand, has tarnished her own image by making sensationalist claims, sharing family secrets, and creating drama that has made her untrustworthy in the eyes of many.
People who value their reputations—like celebrities with successful businesses—simply can’t afford to associate with someone whose brand is linked to dishonesty. This has become a major issue for the Sussexes. They’ve shown a pattern of embellishing stories for the sake of drama, which makes people hesitant to work with them.
Additionally, Meghan's betrayal of her friendship with David, particularly by spoiling the bond between him and Harry, has caused significant damage. As many organizations and individuals have learned, associating with the Sussexes can backfire and negatively impact one's own reputation. This has led to their growing unpopularity, which now rubs off on anyone connected to them.
Even though Harry and Meghan might want to repair their friendship with the Beckhams, it’s clear that this is not going to happen. The Beckhams have shown no interest in rekindling any relationship with the Sussexes.
