Tyler Perry Breaks Silence on the Sussexes—But Not Without Some Shade
Tyler Perry had a notably tense reaction when questioned about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in a recent interview with *The Sunday Times*.
As one of Hollywood's most influential figures, the 55-year-old filmmaker is a close friend of the Sussexes. He famously opened the doors of his California home to the couple in 2020 as they settled into their new life in the United States.
When asked about how he helped prepare Meghan and Harry for their move, Perry quickly dismissed the question. "I didn’t," he said, adding, "Meghan is from California. She knows California well. So there was nothing to prepare them for."
Over the years, Perry's relationship with the couple has deepened, and he now serves as the godfather to their daughter, Lilibet, adding a personal layer to their friendship.
Despite the blunt response, it’s clear that Perry’s bond with Meghan and Harry remains strong.
When asked about the media's constant curiosity about the couple, Perry responded, "You’re from the UK, you tell me," before explaining, "I will say this: what I’ve learned about mentioning them—because there’s this insatiable appetite to know all about them—is that any question asked becomes the headline of anything I say."
It was apparent throughout the interview that Perry was eager to avoid further discussion on the matter, prompting the interviewer to remark that it was "clearly time to cut to the next scene."
Nevertheless, Perry’s close friendship with Meghan was evident just last week when she showed her support at *The Paley Honors* gala in Beverly Hills, reinforcing that their bond remains strong, despite the media frenzy surrounding them.
