Prince Harry Receives Encouraging News Ahead of London Visit
King Charles III appears to be extending an olive branch to his youngest son, Prince Harry, in a bid to mend fractured family ties.
Reports suggest that Buckingham Palace, acting under the monarch’s direction, has invited the Duke of Sussex to stay at the Palace during his upcoming visit to the UK. However, Harry has reportedly declined the offer, choosing instead to arrange alternative accommodations as he prepares for his trial against News Group Newspapers.
According to *The Mirror*, the royal residence extended the invitation to Harry as a gesture of goodwill, but the prince turned it down. This decision mirrors his choice during a similar visit in May 2024, when he also opted not to stay at a royal property.
Despite the refusal, Harry will receive “limited police protection” during his stay in the UK. This arrangement comes after the Duke’s taxpayer-funded security was revoked in 2022. London’s Metropolitan Police Commissioner, Sir Mark Rowley, has reportedly agreed to provide armed officers from the Royalty and Specialist Protection Command for Harry's safety.
“He is being offered limited police protection,” an insider revealed. “The Met is even trying to recruit officers on their days off to cover the assignment, as they’re stretched thin on resources.”
Harry’s solo trip to London is set to include a three-day stay, marking another chapter in his increasingly independent visits to his homeland. On a previous trip, the Duke attended the funeral of his uncle, Lord Robert Fellowes, in Snettisham, Norfolk. During that time, he stayed at Althorp House, the childhood home of his late mother, Princess Diana, which now belongs to her brother, Charles Spencer.
Notably, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex no longer have a private royal residence in the UK, following their eviction from Frogmore Cottage in 2023. This loss of a designated base in Britain underscores Harry’s recent decisions to distance himself from royal accommodations during his visits.
The Palace’s recent invitation is said to be an initiative by King Charles himself, signaling a willingness to rebuild the strained relationship with his son. Whether Harry’s continued refusal to accept these gestures indicates deeper rifts remains to be seen.
For now, this invitation symbolizes an ongoing effort from Buckingham Palace to keep the lines of communication open, despite past tensions and Harry’s independence from royal life.
