Debate Reignites Over Harry and Meghan's Use of Formal Titles

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle officially stepped back from their royal duties in 2020, but their connection to royal formality remains a topic of discussion.

The couple’s reported preference for formal titles among their staff has once again drawn attention, following new claims highlighted in a recent **Vanity Fair** feature. The article, which delves into the Sussexes' lives five years after their royal exit, has reignited online debate about their work environment and professional practices.

According to the report, individuals who worked on Meghan’s Spotify podcast, *Archetypes,* and Harry’s book tour were allegedly instructed to address them as “sir” and “ma’am,” despite their no longer being senior working royals. However, it’s claimed that this practice was eventually dropped after at least one staff member pushed back. Others interviewed for the piece suggested that they were later encouraged to use Harry and Meghan’s first names instead.

This isn’t the first time similar claims have surfaced. In 2024, the CEO of the Invictus Games Vancouver Whistler 2025 shared that he had been given specific guidance on how to formally address the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

These contrasting accounts continue to add intrigue to Harry and Meghan’s post-royal lives, shedding light on their professional dynamics and the complexities of maintaining a balance between their royal past and their present roles.
