Meghan Markle’s Alleged Book Was Set to Target an Unexpected Royal Family Member
Meghan Markle, who recently postponed the release of her Netflix lifestyle show out of respect for California wildfire victims, had reportedly been exploring another major project in the past year.
The Duchess of Sussex, who stepped back from senior royal duties alongside Prince Harry in 2020 to pursue an independent life in the U.S., was rumored to be considering penning her own memoir.
Following the 2023 release of Prince Harry’s explosive autobiography, *Spare*, speculation swirled that Meghan might follow suit with her own tell-all book. While no official announcements were made, the publishing world was abuzz with rumors.
An insider close to the Sussexes has now shared details about the alleged project and why it never materialized.
According to a February issue of *Vanity Fair*, a source revealed that Meghan’s team had approached a publishing house to gauge interest in the concept of a potential book.
Although no formal proposal or written agreement was ever established, the book was rumored to focus on the topic of “post-divorce.” However, it wasn’t intended to be a general discussion nor related to Meghan’s first marriage to Trevor Engelson, which ended in 2014. Instead, the project was said to involve her current husband, Prince Harry.
A separate insider with knowledge of the situation disputed the claim, stating, “If there’s any truth to this, it’s more likely she was approached rather than her team initiating the idea.”
Ultimately, no offers were made, and no manuscript was ever developed, as there is no divorce between the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
Meanwhile, Meghan’s Netflix show, initially scheduled for a January launch, has been delayed to March in light of the devastating L.A. fires. As for her lifestyle brand, American Riviera Orchard, and her upcoming podcast with Lemonada Media, no official release dates have been announced.
