Meghan Markle Takes a Firm Stand Amid Devastating Crisis
Meghan Markle has made a significant decision in the midst of an ongoing crisis, receiving “full support” from Netflix for her choice to delay a major project.
As the Duchess of Sussex prepared to unveil one of her most anticipated releases of the year, Los Angeles and its surrounding areas were struck by devastating wildfires, which destroyed thousands of acres of land and claimed numerous lives.
In light of these tragic events, Netflix issued a statement expressing their full backing of Meghan's decision, underscoring the importance of their partnership.
“At the request of Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, and with the full support of Netflix, the release of her show—a heartfelt tribute to the beauty of Southern California—has been moved from its original January premiere date to March 4, due to the ongoing devastation caused by the Los Angeles wildfires,” the streaming service announced on its Tudum website.
The statement also included a message from Meghan herself: “I’m thankful to my partners at Netflix for supporting me in delaying the launch, as we focus on the needs of those impacted by the wildfires in my home state of California.”
Though there had been rumors that Meghan was planning to launch her podcast series *Archetypes* with Lemonada Media, it's likely that the release date for that too will be postponed due to the current circumstances.
Meghan, along with her husband Prince Harry and their children, Prince Archie (5) and Princess Lilibet (3), reside in Montecito, about 90 miles away from the areas heavily affected by the wildfires.
In response to the crisis, Meghan and Harry have been actively involved in relief efforts. On Friday, they made a discreet appearance at the World Central Kitchen in Pasadena, where they helped distribute supplies, served meals, and connected with affected families and elderly individuals.
Additionally, the couple opened the doors of their home to offer shelter to friends and families impacted by the fires.
