Mindy Kaling Keeps Her Distance: Meghan Markle’s Cooking Show Snubbed at Golden Globes

Mindy Kaling graced the 2025 Golden Globe Awards red carpet in a dazzling gold dress, looking slim and stunning as ever. But while she was soaking up the spotlight, she wasn’t exactly eager to dish out details about her latest project with Meghan Markle.

Just days earlier, Mindy appeared in the trailer for Markle’s Netflix series, *With Love, Meghan*. In the teaser, she seemed to play the role of a guest in Meghan’s kitchen for what looked suspiciously like a “Megan pretends to be a chef, and we all act impressed” segment. But at the Golden Globes, Mindy made it clear she was keeping her distance from that project—like an ex who won’t stop texting on holidays.

In an interview on the red carpet, Mindy tried to spin a casual story about how she ended up on Meghan’s show. According to Kaling, Meghan texted her during maternity leave with a simple invitation: “Hey, do you want to come to Montecito and let me cook for you?” Mindy, apparently enticed by the offer of free food, accepted.

But here’s the catch—she didn’t even say what she ate. On a cooking show, you’d think the food would take center stage, right? Instead, Mindy offered a vague compliment: “Meghan blew me out of the water with her cooking.” Totally believable... if you ignore Meghan’s previous attempts at culinary content, like her *Netflix special* that was more about self-promotion than food.

Mindy, a woman wealthy enough to hire personal chefs or order from the finest restaurants, supposedly couldn’t resist Meghan’s culinary charms. Except, it wasn’t even Meghan’s actual kitchen or garden—it was just a set designed to look like it. The whole setup seems a bit too staged, like Meghan was banking on Mindy’s fame to sprinkle some legitimacy on the project.

On the red carpet, Mindy gushed about Meghan’s cooking, but there was something off—a subtle hint of discomfort. It’s almost as if Mindy realized too late that associating with Meghan Markle in 2025 might be a career landmine. After all, no one wants to spend the next year answering interview questions about a Netflix show they barely cared about.

Adding to the awkwardness, Meghan Markle wasn’t even invited to the Golden Globes. Yet the press still grilled Mindy about her time in Meghan’s kitchen. Imagine the tension as Mindy, with a smile barely wider than a “How to Make Small Talk” Pinterest guide, tried to steer the conversation anywhere else.

When asked about her experience on the show, Mindy’s response was as neutral as it gets: “Yeah, I went. I ate. It was fine. Next question, please.” Translation: “Don’t drag me into this mess. I’m just here for the food and the photo op.”

Mindy’s subtle deflections weren’t accidental. She’s a pro at navigating Hollywood PR, and this was no exception. By throwing in just enough compliments to avoid outright criticism, she managed to keep the spotlight on herself while sidestepping any fallout from Meghan’s Netflix fiasco.

In the end, the Golden Globes became the perfect backdrop for Mindy’s artful avoidance. A little charm here, a strategic compliment there, and suddenly, no one was asking about Meghan Markle anymore. It was like a magic trick—except instead of pulling a rabbit out of a hat, Mindy pulled out an aura of “I’m not really involved in this, okay?” vibes.
