The Duke and Duchess of Sussex Set to Follow Separate Paths in 2025
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are preparing for a significant shift in their professional lives as they plan to continue their "professional separation" into 2025, a move they began in 2024.
The couple, aged 40 and 43, have been under intense scrutiny, especially after a recent Vanity Fair article that raised concerns about their personal and professional lives. The article questioned their business ventures, lifestyle in Montecito, California, and alleged issues with staff treatment.
Royal commentator Kevin O'Sullivan of Talk TV believes that Meghan and Harry face a fundamental challenge. Meghan, he argues, is eager to achieve "world fame" and become a Hollywood superstar, while Harry seems to want a life out of the spotlight.
He commented: "Here is the essence of the problem. She still can't wait to be world famous, to be a Hollywood superstar, the famous Meghan. She just wants to be more and more famous, he wants to be less and less famous. They are searching for very different targets, very different aims."
Sources close to the couple have also suggested that their professional paths are diverging. A friend of the couple shared with *People* magazine, saying, “It’s clear that a twin-track approach is evolving.”
The friend continued, “An entrepreneurial and enterprise focus is going to be more the Duchess’s priority, while the Duke will continue to champion his not-for-profit patronages. But there will be joint efforts around those cause-driven areas of work.”
This evolving dynamic has been reflected in the couple’s recent solo appearances. Although Meghan has been absent from several engagements, this does not signal a permanent rift.
The friend clarified, “It’s as much a reflection on parenting priorities, in that one of them stays behind with the children.”
As the Sussexes move forward with separate focuses, the question remains whether their professional separation will influence their personal life in the long run.
