Meghan Markle’s team is reportedly working behind Prince Harry’s back on a potentially “outrageous” project, fueling new speculation about their relationship. Divorce rumors surrounding the Duke and Duchess of Sussex appear to have emerged following a secret move by Meghan’s team.
Last year, the couple seemed to take a significant step towards strengthening their individual brand reputations by adopting what royal experts have described as a “professional separation.” During this time, Harry embarked on solo trips to promote his charity work, while Meghan made high-profile solo appearances.
At one of Harry’s events in New York, he vehemently denied the ongoing divorce rumors, stating that the media had fabricated the reports. "We've apparently divorced maybe 10, 12 times… It's hard to keep up with, but that's why you just sort of ignore it,” he remarked at the time.
However, new allegations have surfaced, casting doubt on Harry’s claims. A source cited by *Vanity Fair* has revealed that Meghan was allegedly planning to write a book on the topic of divorce, though not about her previous marriage to Trevor Engelson, whom she was married to from 2011 to 2014. Instead, the report suggests that her team had reached out to a publishing house regarding a book about Meghan’s life “post-divorce” from Prince Harry, even while the couple was still married.
It’s important to note, however, that according to the source, the meeting with the publisher wasn’t an indication that the couple was on the brink of splitting. There was no written proposal for the book, and the meeting was only meant to gauge whether a publisher might be interested in the idea, should it ever come to fruition.
Another insider added that if such a meeting did take place, Meghan would have been the one approached, rather than the other way around.
Currently, the Sussexes have a four-book deal with Penguin Random House. Meghan has released a children's book, while Harry’s much-discussed memoir, *Spare*, has already made headlines. If the alleged book meeting occurred without Prince Harry’s knowledge and Meghan’s consent, it’s understandable why Harry might feel upset.
The timing of this report raises further questions, especially considering the rumors of tension between the couple around the time of Prince Harry’s 40th birthday. During that period, Harry made no mention of Meghan when he spoke about his children and the joy of fatherhood—something that struck many as unusual, given the closeness of their relationship.
