Prince Harry's Surprising U-Turn in Defense of King Charles

King Charles and Advisors “Relieved” by Prince Harry’s Strategic Decision

Prince Harry, who was originally preparing to return to the UK for his legal battle against British publishers, made a surprising and historic decision that has shifted the narrative in his favor.

The Duke of Sussex reached an out-of-court settlement worth a staggering multimillion-dollar amount with Rupert Murdoch’s News Group Newspapers (NGN). Reports suggest the deal will see Prince Harry receive damages exceeding £10 million.

Previously, Harry faced sharp criticism for involving the royal family—especially the late Queen Elizabeth, King Charles, and Prince William—in his legal proceedings. However, this recent development appears to have relieved the royals, as King Charles and his senior advisors reportedly “breathe a sigh of relief.”

In his memoir *Spare*, Harry revealed how his father and brother responded to his phone-hacking lawsuit, with King Charles allegedly referring to the case as a “suicide mission” due to its potential to implicate the palace.

Royal correspondent Richard Palmer suggests that Harry’s decision to settle out of court might help “ease tensions” within the royal family. Palmer believes this move could pave the way for reconciliation, particularly because a trial might have revealed damaging “backroom deals” between the palace and Murdoch’s organization.

Previously, Harry accused some royals, including Queen Camilla, of trading private information about him with the press to secure more favorable media coverage.

While Harry had initially vowed to see the case through to its conclusion, his decision to settle has likely prevented a public airing of the royal family’s internal struggles. Experts say this approach avoided what could have been a highly damaging spectacle.

The royal family has not yet made an official statement regarding Harry’s decision. However, Charles Spencer, Princess Diana’s brother, praised his nephew for his legal victory and the apology he secured from *The Sun*—a first in the publication’s legal history.

“It takes an enormous amount of guts to take on major media organizations like this, and incredible tenacity to win against them,” Spencer shared on Instagram alongside a screenshot of the BBC report on Harry’s win.

He added, “It’s wonderful that Harry also secured an apology for his mother—she would be immensely touched by this, I’m sure, and also rightly proud. Well done indeed.”

Reports indicate that King Charles, who is battling health issues, may express his gratitude to Harry for his wise decision. For now, this development has helped ease tensions within the monarchy and protected the family from further public scrutiny.

Prince Harry’s legal triumph, coupled with his strategic compromise, might mark the beginning of a new chapter for the royals.
