Prince Harry Hopes Archie and Lilibet Will Embrace the Invictus Games Legacy
Prince Harry, the founder of the Invictus Games, has revealed his hopes that his two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, will one day play a significant role in the event. The Duke of Sussex, currently in Canada for the 2025 Invictus Games, shared his vision for the future during a heartfelt conversation about his family and the Games’ mission.
Since founding the Invictus Games in 2014, Prince Harry has been dedicated to supporting wounded, injured, and sick servicemen and women through the power of sport. Now, he’s looking ahead to the next generation. Harry expressed his desire for Archie, 5, and Lilibet, 3, to not only understand the importance of the Games but also to find joy in the transformative power of sports.
In an interview with *People Magazine*, Harry shared how he’s been carefully explaining the event to his children. “I’m constantly trying to make sure that I get it right,” he said. “I want them to understand what we do at Invictus to try to make their lives better and give them a chance to redefine themselves.”
The Duke also hinted at the possibility of his children being involved in future Games. “I’m hoping that my kids will take on every sport that they want as well, because I think it’s really important for all of us,” he added.
Harry revealed that he looks forward to returning home to Archie and Lilibet after the Games to share stories about the inspiring competitors and their achievements. “They were fascinated to see these guys careering around the field in wheelchairs, playing basketball, wheelchair rugby, sitting volleyball, everything,” he said, recalling their reactions to the 2023 Invictus Games in Düsseldorf.
This year, Archie and Lilibet received special gifts from Team Nigeria, who presented the Sussex family with custom jerseys featuring their names. The thoughtful gesture was a highlight for the children, with Meghan ensuring the jerseys made it back to their Montecito home.
As the 2025 Invictus Games in Canada draw to a close, all eyes are on the closing ceremony scheduled for Sunday, February 16th. While it’s unclear whether Meghan Markle will return for the event or if she’ll bring Archie and Lilibet along, Harry’s focus remains on the Games’ mission and its impact on participants and their families.
