Amy Schumer ROASTS Meghan Markle for Using ‘Sussex’ on Netflix – She Said WHAT?

Meghan Markle is once again making headlines, this time for insisting on being referred to as "Meghan Sussex"—despite stepping away from royal duties. Clinging to her title like a lifeline, her demand has even caught the attention of Hollywood comedians, with none other than Amy Schumer delivering a sharp and hilarious jab at the situation.

In a viral Instagram video, Schumer wrapped up a monologue about weight loss drugs, menopause, and her shifting sex drive with a mic-drop moment. She quipped, "That's all I have to say, and I'm not going to stir the pot, but why don’t we have to call Kate Middleton ‘Kate of Wales?’" Cue the dramatic pause, the knowing glance at the camera, and the internet exploding with laughter.

Schumer’s dig worked because of its simplicity—no elaborate joke was needed. She simply pointed out the absurdity of Meghan’s insistence on using her title. After all, why stop at "Meghan Sussex"? Why not go all out and demand to be called "Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, former star of Suits, victim of British tabloids, champion of handwritten calligraphy, and the only person ever to give birth"?

The internet wasted no time reacting. One royal fan commented, "Catherine understands what her title represents and does not use it for her own self-interests." Another noted, "I think Amy Schumer was shading Meghan Markle’s insistence on being called Meghan Sussex."

This isn’t the first time Schumer has taken playful digs at Meghan. Back when they were both pregnant, Schumer jokingly labeled Markle her "nemesis," sarcastically complaining about how effortlessly glamorous Meghan’s pregnancy seemed in comparison to her own. "Why is she my nemesis? Because she’s pregnant at the same time as me, and I’m not letting her get away with that," Schumer joked. She then humorously pointed out how Meghan floated through pregnancy in high heels while Schumer was waddling in flats, looking 10 months pregnant at just four months along. And who could forget Schumer’s infamous post-birth bathroom selfie, cheekily captioned, "Today, Markle is in Fiji."

While taking pride in one’s achievements is natural, Meghan’s obsession with her title raises eyebrows. She and Prince Harry left the royal family, citing the institution’s toxicity—yet here she is, adamant that people still refer to her by her aristocratic name. If Meghan truly despises the royal system, why is she so desperate to remind the world of her royal status?

Meanwhile, Catherine, Princess of Wales, continues to be casually referred to as Kate Middleton by the press, and she doesn’t seem to mind. Why? Because she understands that respect is earned, not demanded. Meghan, on the other hand, seems to believe that her value hinges on public acknowledgment of her royal connections, despite her apparent disdain for the monarchy.

As always, Amy Schumer has an uncanny ability to cut through the noise with a single, well-timed quip. No need for a lengthy takedown—just a pointed question and a raised eyebrow, and suddenly, the Duchess has no clothes.
