Kate Middleton & Prince William’s Big Decision Leaves Fans Emotional

Kate Middleton & Prince William’s Big Decision Leaves Fans Emotional

When it comes to sleeping arrangements, every couple has their own preferences. Some opt for the Scandinavian sleep method, using separate duvets to avoid midnight battles over the covers. Others might even go for a "sleep divorce," choosing separate beds or bedrooms altogether. But if you and your partner snuggle up with your pet nestled between you every night, you’re in good company—you share the same sleeping style as the world’s most famous royal couple, Prince William and Catherine Middleton.

During a recent visit to QE College Stoke Climsland in Callington, Cornwall, Prince William shared a surprising detail about his and Catherine’s nighttime routine. While chatting with local resident Louise Harland and her dog, Jax, the Prince of Wales revealed that their own dog, Orla, sleeps on the bed with them. “William absolutely adores our little dog,” Louise shared. “He asked about Jax’s breed and mentioned he’d never met a Cocker Jack before—a unique mix of Cocker Spaniel and Jack Russell.”

The Wales family welcomed Orla into their home in 2022, a gift from Catherine’s brother, James Middleton. Orla is the son of James’s dog, Luna, and joined the family after the passing of their beloved dog, Lupo, in 2020. The couple shared their grief over Lupo’s loss in an emotional Instagram post, calling him “the heart of our family for the past nine years.”

James Middleton, who has a deep love for dogs, shared his bittersweet feelings about sending Orla to live with his sister’s family. “I might cry, but it will be with happiness,” he wrote in an Instagram post. “Your new home is bursting with love. Be yourself, and you’ll bring so much joy to your new family.”

While Orla may be the only pet sharing the royal couple’s bed, the Wales family has other furry friends at their Windsor Castle home. During a visit to Woodgate Valley Urban Farm earlier this year, William bonded with some guinea pigs and humorously compared them to his own. “We’ve got guinea pigs at home, and they’re not as calm as these,” he joked. “I’m always cleaning their cage because the kids forget, and then they run off when you try to handle them.”

The Prince and Princess of Wales have faced significant challenges in recent years, including Catherine’s health battle and persistent rumors about their marriage. In March 2024, Catherine was diagnosed with cancer following abdominal surgery in January. She underwent chemotherapy and announced her remission in January 2025, expressing gratitude for William’s unwavering support throughout her recovery.

Amid Catherine’s health struggles, rumors about Prince William’s alleged affair with Rose Hanbury, the Marchioness of Cholmondeley, resurfaced. These speculations, which first emerged in 2019, were reignited during Catherine’s absence from public duties. However, both Kensington Palace and Rose Hanbury have firmly denied the allegations, calling them “completely false” and “totally wrong.”

Despite these challenges, the royal couple has remained focused on their family’s well-being. They spent a quiet Christmas at their Sandringham estate with their three children—Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis—marking Catherine’s first public appearance after her treatment. This period allowed them to heal and strengthen their bond away from the spotlight.

Recent public engagements have showcased the couple’s unity and affection. During a visit to Pontypridd, Wales, they shared rare public displays of affection, with body language experts noting their strong chemistry and mutual support. Catherine has openly praised William’s role in her recovery, calling him “amazing” and thanking the public for their support during this difficult time.

Looking ahead, the Prince and Princess of Wales are focused on a drama-free 2025, prioritizing their health, family, and royal duties. They continue to make public appearances, supporting various causes and demonstrating resilience in the face of personal challenges. Through it all, their love for each other—and their beloved pets—remains a constant source of comfort and joy.
