King Charles and Queen Camilla’s Secret to a Strong Marriage: Living Separately
King Charles and Queen Camilla may be deeply connected, but they’ve always valued their independence—even after marriage.
According to former royal gardener Jack Stooks, the couple agreed on maintaining separate residences long before their wedding in 2005.
At 76, Camilla continues to keep her private home in Wiltshire, while 75-year-old Charles divides his time between various royal estates.
"Before Charles and Camilla got married, they agreed that Camilla would keep her home,"* Stooks shared with *JeffBet*. "Having their own space was important for both of them and their families."
This arrangement, he explained, has played a key role in their lasting marriage.
"Charles enjoys his solitude and is incredibly dedicated to his work. He often stays up late at his desk, focused on his duties,"* Stooks revealed.
Meanwhile, Camilla embraces an active social life and cherishes time with her family. "They are both independent by nature and appreciate time apart. Their ability to give each other space is one of the reasons their marriage is so strong."
Even their household staff operate separately. "Camilla has her own garden team at her residence, while Charles has staff at each of his royal homes," Stooks noted.
Despite their independent lifestyles, the King and Queen love coming together to host friends at their various estates.
"It’s an arrangement that works perfectly for them—so why change it?"* Stooks added.
