Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are once again under public scrutiny—this time from a notable royal insider and longtime friend of Princess Diana. Tina Brown, a well-known royal commentator and bestselling author, shared a scathing take on the couple’s recent decisions, labeling them as “disastrous” and financially driven.
Tina Brown Slams Meghan Markle’s TV Efforts
During a recent interview with The Daily Telegraph, Brown didn't hold back when asked about Meghan's latest venture, the lifestyle show With Love, Meghan. She sharply criticized the former Suits actress, saying Meghan “looks ridiculous,” casting doubt on her attempts to rebrand herself in the entertainment and lifestyle world.
Prince Harry Called a “Disaster Tourist” in His New Role
Brown also had strong words for Prince Harry, suggesting that the Duke of Sussex may be grappling with his identity post-royal life. According to her, Harry appears to deeply miss his role within the monarchy.
“He really misses being a prince,” Brown remarked, claiming that without the palace behind him, Harry now comes off as more of a “disaster tourist” when engaging in humanitarian work, such as their visit following the California wildfires.
The Future of Harry’s Relationship with the Royal Family
When asked about the chances of reconciliation with the royal family, Brown painted a bleak picture. “There’s a Harry-shaped hole in the royal family,” she admitted, “but I don’t think that hole’s going to be filled again.”
Brown acknowledged Harry’s charisma and natural talent for public engagement, a trait she says he inherited from his late mother, Princess Diana. “He’s the most gifted in the family when it comes to connecting with people. He was actually very good at being a prince.”
Missteps That May Have Damaged Their Legacy
Brown went on to echo actress Justine Bateman’s sentiment, labeling the Sussexes' public appearances amid crises as performative. She also pointed to their high-profile projects as pivotal mistakes—including Harry’s controversial memoir Spare and the explosive Oprah Winfrey interview.
“Those choices, especially the book and the Oprah interview, were catastrophic. There wasn’t even any financial upside to the interview,” Brown said. “Harry might want to repair things, but it sounds like William doesn’t see a path forward.”
