Prince William’s Heartfelt Statement
Prince William recently shared a touching message of support that showed both his personal warmth and his competitive side as he and Princess Kate prepare for a lighthearted royal “rivalry.”
On August 23, William sent his best wishes to the Wales Women’s team as they kicked off their campaign in the Women’s Rugby World Cup 2025. Writing in both Welsh and English, his words reflected not just his role as Patron of the Welsh Rugby Union, but also his pride in representing Wales on the global sporting stage.
At the same time, Princess Kate has been equally active in showing support for rugby. Since 2022, she has served as patron of the Rugby Football Union (RFU) and the Rugby Football League, representing England. Like William, she broke her summer break to wish the England women’s team success as they began their own World Cup journey.
This dynamic highlights an interesting twist: while the couple is usually united in public duties, sports creates a friendly split. Their upcoming Six Nations tournament face-off in March is already being viewed as a playful but “tense” encounter, with William standing behind Wales and Kate cheering for England.
Beyond rugby, William’s public statement also came amid reports about his plans to live at Forest Lodge rather than Buckingham Palace once he becomes king—a move interpreted as him subtly reshaping the monarchy’s traditions.
