Mariah Carey Leaves Meghan Markle Out of Royals Chat Before Sandringham Concert
Mariah Carey is gearing up for a big performance at Sandringham later this month, but one thing has caught attention — she didn’t mention Meghan Markle at all when talking about the Royal Family.
In a recent interview, Carey was asked about members of the royals. Instead of bringing up Meghan, whom she’s spoken to before, she chose to mention the Duchess of York, Sarah Ferguson, saying, “Sarah Ferguson, I thought she was cool.”
This was surprising to some because Carey has interacted with Meghan in the past. In 2022, she appeared on Meghan’s Archetypes podcast, where she famously called Meghan a “diva.” At the time, Meghan responded by saying that while the “diva” label might be fun to play into, it wasn’t something she really connected with. Carey then teased, “You give us diva moments sometimes, Meghan.”
The timing of this small snub is interesting, as Carey will soon be performing at King Charles’s Sandringham Estate during the Heritage Live concert series. The event, running from August 14 to 17, will feature other artists with Meghan connections — like Michael Bublé — and will give ticket-holders rare access to the estate’s grounds.
King Charles himself won’t be there, as he’ll be spending the summer in Scotland, following royal tradition.
While it may have just been an innocent omission, fans and royal watchers are already speculating about why Meghan’s name didn’t come up at all.
